My Passion

Photography is not what I do, rather it is who I am.  Photography to me is a method of expression, a journal of capturing life and moments as they occur, and a means to make a statement through a visual technique.  Ever since I can remember, photos have spoken to me as more than just art.  Stuart Franklin took me to Tiananmen Square during civil unrest; Dorthea Lange demonstrated the despair of a Migrant Woman during the Great Depression;  Steve McCurry's photo of the Afghan Girl moved me to to wonder what was going on inside those eyes during a time of war; and I could feel the spirt of and joy in Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous photo of the sailor and nurse kissing in Times Square as they learn of the end of WWII. These are only a few examples of photos that made me fall in love with photography.  It is my goal to capture those moments for each and every client I work with.

My Experience

Currently living in Rome, NY, I began my own business, Flashback Photography, in 2007.  Since that time I have specialized in music and event photography.  As house photographer for several years for The Stanley Center for the Performing Arts, and more recently the OnCenter and Lakeview Amphitheater, I have been able to hone my skills in music/event photography while capturing some of the most amazing talent from Broadways shows, to Symphony Orchestras, and concerts and events of all types.  As a freelance photographer, I have also covered several festivals over the years, worked with the New York Harness Racing Association, worked with local pageants for Miss New York/Miss America, and covered national musicians from all over the world.  My work has been featured on several websites, utilized for music cd's and posters, been made into billboards, featured in newspapers and magazines, and most recently as the cover shot to the NY State Sire Stakes Stallion Directory for years 2014 and 2016.  In 2013, I began my photo journalism journey with and since that time have published numerous articles featuring some of today's most popular musicians.  Working to the position of one of three owners at, I continued my duties as photography editor/journalist/and photographer all at the same time while shooting all over New York State and managing more than 90 photographers.  Over the past year, and much self reflection, I decided to slow down a bit and venture out on my own into a new chapter I've called Emptynest Adventures.  These adventures feature little excursions of seeing the world after the children have grown and moved on.  With the world at my feet now, I've taken to the road to explore and mark off several bucket list items. Now expanding on that concept, I've decided to incorporate my love of the arts into these adventures, to bring to you my perspective of life on the road.  Whether it's weekend adventures, musical adventures, or lifes adventures, Flashback Photography will bring you highlights, tips, and ways that you too can be there in the moment and live your life to the fullest.  I hope through my site, my passion for living the most fulfilled life come across and inspires you to step outside your comfort zone and mark those items off your bucket list as well.
